One of the benefits of growing up in Wellington was attending the Ritz Theater on Saturdays to watch western movies in the 1950s. The employees at the Ritz would up their game with a meeting just prior to the first showing. They included ticket sellers Ruby Lucas or Mrs.

Once the building was vacated, work began to remove the dropped ceilings, colored tin from the windows and built-in additions from over the years. During this process, they agency was careful to preserve the original state of the building.

In 1949, the Memphis High School “Fighting Cyclones” underwent a tough season and came out with flying colors, winning the District, Regional and State Championships.The Cyclones played some very fine teams in those tournaments, all of which showed much sportsmanship and fine coaching.
