Ballew Dorothea Lange (May 26, 1895-Oct. 11, 1965), born Dorothea Margaretta Nutzhorn, was an American documentary photographer and photojournalist best known for her Depression-era work for the Farm Security Administration (FSA). Lange’s photographs influenced the development of documentary photography and humanized the consequences of the Great Depression.
A Memphis native, John R. Ballew taught history for 25 years in the trenches of the Texas public school system. He is a triple master: a Master of Science from Texas A&M University- Corp u s Christi, a master plumber from Te x a s and a master mason.
