CHILDRESS — Elena Jurado and Alex Sauceda were recently named the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Childress District Summer Employees of the Year by TxDOT Childress District Engineer Darwin Lankford.
Jurado, a 2023 graduate of Childress High School, took on several roles while working for the district this summer. Working in transportation safety, Jurado facilitated safety meetings, worked with local schools to earn Project Celebration grant funding, created a statewide data repository which included information for all traffic incident management trainers across the state and planned, organized and led the Fourth of July Bike Rodeo.
Jurado was also responsible for planning and organizing the annual Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day. TxDOT employees’ children attended the event, which included a morning of learning various jobs with hands-on activities.
