Local vocalist Melissa Kiker performs a Fourth of July program at the Wellington Care Center Sunday afternoon, July 6. Kiker gives credit to the Lord for helping her bring 12 songs to the residents, including “America Melody,” “God of Our Fathers,” “My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee,” “America,” and “This Land Is Your Land” followed by “This Is My Country,” “You’re a Grand Ole Flag” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.” She sang “Amazing Grace,” “Jesus Loves Me,” “How Great Thou Art” and “God Bless, America” in closing. Guests included Fraya Hammons, who helped gather the residents for the event, along with Kiker’s daughters, Victoria and Grace. “It’s a blessing to celebrate our country that our Heavenly Father has given us and a country that is based on our Lord,” Kiker exclaimed.
