WELLINGTON – The Mesquite Groundwater Conservation District (GCD) recently welcomed the next generation of water stewards, proudly hosting the Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors- Tier I program on Friday, June 13 at the historic Wellington Ritz Theater. The event provided an engaging and informative session on vital water resources and conservation efforts within the district.
The educational program featured insightful presentations from a distinguished panel of Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors. Jacy Lampe, a Tier IV Ambassador, alongside Tier II Ambassador Anna Granados, both of Wellington, and Tier I Ambassador Yolanda Escovedo, of Memphis, led comprehensive discussions highlighting the critical importance of the Seymour and Blaine aquifers to the district.
Adding significant depth to the program, Mesquite Groundwater Conservation District General Manager Whitney Wiebe offered a comprehensive look into her role within the organization. She detailed the diverse responsibilities and daily operations involved in groundwater conservation, providing the young ambassadors with a practical understanding of potential career paths in water resource management. Wiebe also serves on the advisory board for the Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors.
