TxDOT Childress District employees honored at 28th Annual Texans Caring for Texans award ceremony
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) ChildressDistrictMaintenance Support Tech Shawna Geiser is a 2023 Texans Caring for Texans award recipient. Geiser was recognized for making sure families who are unable to travel during the Thanksgiving holiday have a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

CHILDRESS — Three Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Childress District employees, including Dickens County Maintenance Assistant Supervisor Leland Brendle, Childress District Maintenance Support Tech Shawna Geiser and Childress County General Transportation Technician Trevor Ray, were honored at the 28th Annual Texans Caring for Texans award ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 3 at West Texas A&M University in Canyon.
Established in 1996 by the late-Rep. David Swinford, the Texans Caring for Texans award honors state employees who go above and beyond in their service to their communities and the State of Texas.
Brendle was honored for his service to the senior citizens in Dickens, as well as always going out of his way to help the traveling public.From fixing flats to helping those who break down on district roadways, Brendle makes sure all motorists traveling through the district get back on the roadway and on to their destination.
