WELLINGTON – Wellington Independent School District (ISD) announced its policy for providing free and reduced- price meals for children served under the attached current income eligibility guidelines.

Memphis ISD’s Ollinger selected as Region 16 Secondary Teacher of the Year

AMARILLO — Region 16 Education Service Center (ESC) recently selected its 2026 Teachers of the Year,including Elementary Teacher of the Year Tiffany Brown, of Booker Independent School District (ISD), and Secondary Teacher of the Year Haley Ollinger, of Memphis ISD.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Ellison Park Renovation Project grant application proposal includes constructing additional parking spaces and functional sidewalks to access Parkview Manor Assisted Living and Wellington High School. The Wellington City Council and Ellison Park Working Group anticipate hearing from TxDOT in October and the Texas Park and Wildlife Department in January 2026 whether the grant applications are approved. CHILDRESS — Tuesday, July 22, a Cirrus, from Abilene, practiced in the area, another Cirrus stopped for fuel on its way from Montana to Waco and a local Mooney returned. A Piper Cherokee flew in from Florida, and a Cessna Citation came in for fuel.
Construction of the new Wellington Gun Club (WGC) clubhouse began in September 2024, funded by a private donation earmarked for the project. Now a popular local venue for youth shooting sports, WGC is also receiving a NRA Foundation grant and plans to add a second trap field and upgrade its rifle/pistol range in the near future. WELLINGTON — Just outside the quiet streets of Wellington, Texas, on a 40-acre stretch in Collingsworth County, a new cornerstone for shooting sports is rising — and it’s more than just a clubhouse.

CHILDRESS — Tuesday, July 29, a Cessna 150 came in for fuel, a local Piper Cherokee flew and a Pilatus PC12, from California, stopped for fuel. A Cessna 172 and a Cessna 150 fueled up on their way from Oklahoma to New Mexico.
