CHILDRESS — Veteran James Gray, U.S. Army Sergeant First Class, received the second-ever Childress County 4-H Quilt of Valor at the recent Childress Elks Lodge #1113 Memorial Day Service Monday, May 26 at Jones Chapel in Childress Cemetery.

Decker serves 37 years as Wellington’s librarian

WELLINGTON – Library patrons and Wellington Independent School District (ISD) staff, many with cards and gifts in hand, filed into Collingsworth Public Library from 1-2:30 p.m.Wednesday, May 14. The reception honored Librarian Vicki Decker for her 37 years of service at Wellington ISD.
Glynn Moore Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6439 hosts the 2025 Collingsworth County Memorial Day Service at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26 at the Post Hall. Collingsworth County marks Memorial Day with solemn ceremony

WELLINGTON – While rain showers skirted around Wellington, organizers of the 2025 Memorial Day service planned for the Collingsworth County Courthouse Square moved the location of the 11 a.m.
Demetrice Lachille Henderson Stephens, Memphis High School Class of 1975, is inducted into the Memphis Independent School District Hall of Honor Friday, May 23 at Memphis High School. MEMPHIS — The Memphis High School National Honor Society welcomed three new Hall of Honor inductees, including the late Alicia Faye Berry, the late Herbert Hartman and Demetrice Lachille Henderson Stephens, Friday, May 23 at the Memphis High School auditorium.

On May 25, 1985, almost 200 of us graduated from medical school in San Antonio. This final event, after four difficult years, was held in Trinity University’s Dorothy A. and James W. Laurie Auditorium to accommodate for the people attending.
