MEMPHIS — Memphis Independent School District (ISD) teacher and coach Matthew Nix, affectionately known as “Coach Nix,” will soon be able to return to doing what he loves most – teaching and coaching, thanks to the donation of a “second life” by a former coworker turned best friend.

Nix, who was diagnosed with diabetes at age 9, went into kidney failure in February 2020. Put on the transplant list …
