AMARILLO — Childress quarterback and linebacker Scout Smith and Wellington defensive lineman and linebacker Caleb Strickland were recently named to Press Pass Sports Top 10 Texas Panhandle football performers from Week 9, announced Sunday, Oct. 22.
In the Bobcats’ 28-21 win over Spearman, Smith carried the ball only three times but made two of those carries count, scoring Childress’ first touchdown on a two-yard quarterback keeper and another from a yard out with 50 seconds to play in the fourth quarter. Smith also did his job on the defensive side of the ball, putting up nine tackles.
With Wellington’s defense continuing to be the talk of District 2-2A Division II, Strickland is a big reason for that defensive success, racking up 12 tackles, including two for a loss with a sack, in the Skyrockets’ 46-0 blank of Wheeler.
