WELLINGTON – One local farmer compared the 2024 cotton crop to 2011, when the final bale count totaled only 40,410 during the severe drought. While ginning concluded Dec. 30, the total for 2024 is 46,846 bales.
In comparison, the 2014 season, 10 years ago, turned out 124,837 bales, extending Wellington’s ginning process into February and producing the second largest crop in recent history.
