BROWNSVILLE — The Amarillo Fleet Track and Field Club, including Memphis’ Aija Johnson, Jurayiah Knox and Kalijah Mackie, competed in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) 2023 Summer Games of Texas Track and Field Championships, held Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30 in Brownsville.
At the meet, Johnson placed sixth in the girls’ 10-and-under long jump, beating out 23 other competitors, while Kalijah Mackie finished 10th in the women’s 18-and-under shot put, and Jurayiah Knox, despite a strained leg muscle, competed in the girls 12-and-under 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
“We are so proud of these three for all the hard work they put in this summer,” Amarillo Fleet Track and Field Club Coach Christopher Ray Sims-Williams said. “Please congratulate them for a job well done.”
