RIDE FOR CANCER A Ride for Cancer, benefiting Jaimie Flores, who is terminally ill with metastatic cancer, will take place Saturday, Aug.

20. Inviting all riders and vehicles, registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Childress Fire Department, 100 Commerce St. NW. Cost is $25 per rider with children 12-and-under free. Breakfast burritos, as well as prizes for “Best Hand” and a 50/50 raffle will be available. The first bike will leave out at 9 a.m. followed by the last bike in at 3 p.m.

Following the ride, riders and their vehicles are welcome to park at Porky’s Smokehouse and Saloon, 241 N. Main St., and come inside for live music, silent auctions, raffles and cornhole. SIREN TESTING The tornado siren is tested at noon the third Friday of each month. If there is inclement weather, the siren will not be tested.
