Graphics Courtesy of Texas A&M Forest Service, U.S. Drought Monitor Thanks to recent rains, Childress and Hall counties recently announced the lift of countywide burn bans Friday, Sept. 2, joining Collingsworth County, which lifted their burn ban on Monday, June 13. Currently, a majority of all three counties, including the whole of Hall County, are in Category D2, with over 16% of the state dropping to severe drought from extreme-to-exceptional drought. However, over 76% of the state remains in some stage of drought, ranging from moderate to exceptional, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
