Special to The Sun CHILDRESS — Texas Sen. Charles Perry will host a town hall meeting from 9:30-10:30 a.m. today, Friday, Sept. 9 at The 501 Winery, 109 Ave. E NW.

“After last session and its three special sessions being dominated by legislation surrounding COVID and grid issues, we are heading into a new legislative session set to begin in January,” Perry said. “Although most of our lives have returned to normal, Texas has seen challenges with workforce and the changes in the economy. I want to hear from the people of this community regarding how I can best advocate for them during the next legislative session.”

The 88th Legislative Session begins Jan. 10. Perry currently chairs the Senate Committee on Water, Agriculture, and Rural Affairs and is Vice-Chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. He also sits on the Senate Committees for Education, Finance, Transportation and Redistricting. He is also a member on the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission.

At the town hall, Perry will discuss the upcoming 88th Legislative Session, and most importantly, answer questions from the community.

Perry, a practicing CPA from Lubbock, was elected to the Texas Senate in 2014 and currently represents 51 counties in West Texas.
