SHAMROCK – Twelve-year-old Hazel Estrada, of Wellington, earned third place in the Preteen Division of the recent Lad n’ Lassie Pageant on Sunday, March 19 at the Shamrock High School Auditorium.

Modern Home Club experiences European tour

CHILDRESS — Modern Home Club held its regular monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 16 at the Childress County Heritage Museum. Soundra Christy called the meeting to order, followed by reading of the minutes by Raenell Smith, which were approved without change.
A 2015 graduate of Wellington High School, Carly Carter Kay is Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy’s 20222023 Elementary New Teacher of the Year. Currently a fourth-grade online teacher, Kay received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from West Texas A&M University in 2018. The daughter of Billy and Donnie Carter, she served in the Wellington Independent School District Music Department from 2018-2021. Carly and her husband, Weston Kay, reside in Altus, Okla.
