PANHANDLE – A jury trial scheduled to begin Tuesday, Jan. 24 in Carson County was canceled due to the inclement weather across the area. Instead, Gary Allen Darnell, 48, of Childress, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he plead guilty to the first-degree felony offense of aggravated assault against a public servant with a deadly weapon.
