God’s fingerprints

When your brother dies, it’s a big deal.

One of the four in the car was thoroughly questioned and examined by me only hours later. No bump on the head, loss of consciousness or headache. No whiplash. No neurological findings. Just some trivial scratches and bruising. I talked at the funeral about God’s fingerprints. No one should claim to be able to answer all the “why” questions, of course, but it is common for people of faith to wonder about God’s plans or purposes, especially when what has happened seems so incredibly improbable. Others who do not have faith do not wonder about these things. This is also true with various other disasters, whether natural or made by man.

There is a phenomenon called survivor guilt that is also experienced by some cancer patients. The friend that they meet at the infusion room dies, and they live. Why?
