CHILDRESS — Despite the cold, youth exhibitors took the showring during the Childress County Youth Project Show (CCYPS) Friday, Jan. 10-Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Mashburn Event Center and Arena.The two-day affair began at 6 p.m. Friday with the rabbit show, followed by the fancy chicken show.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), with the help of the Childress District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), briefly closed U.S. Hwy 287 at Madison Ave. in Childress Thursday, Jan. 23 for the investigation of a fatal crash, which took place Saturday, Nov. 9.

CGH spotlights Lab Tech as 2024 fourth quarter STAR

WELLINGTON – Medical Lab Tech Abby Proffitt was awarded the STAR (Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Results) for the fourth quarter of 2024 at Collingsworth General Hospital (CGH). A resident of Memphis, Proffitt joined the CGH team in May 2024.
While Wellington residents are encouraged to be proactive and get regular screenings and mammograms with the BSA Harrington Breast Center mobile unit or other facilities, Hearts United Give Support (HUGS) assists residents of Collingsworth County diagnosed with cancer with travel funds to oncology appointments. WELLIINGTON – A nonprofit support organization for residents of Collingsworth County diagnosed with cancer, Hearts United Give Support (HUGS) announced the transfer of its patient service operations to Whitney Wiebe at Mesquite Groundwater Conservation District (MGCD), 802 9th St.
