Collingsworth County,

It has come to my attention that we have shortage of staff in our law enforcement for Collingsworth County. As most of you know, the sheriff ’s office is responsible for not only the county, but also the City of Wellington. It seems that, at this time, the sheriff is the only one available to take calls. This concerns me due to the fact that he obviously can’t patrol 24 hours a day, and at some time, has to sleep. If there is a need for law enforcement during that time, how long will it take for someone to respond? If he is unavailable for some reason, who will be there to take care of any issues? What is he needs assistance, who does he call?

I have never seen this type of issue before. What are the reasons? Do they not have any applications from anyone wanting to work for Collingsworth County? Is the pay scale not comparable to other counties? Benefits? Housing?
