WELLINGTON – The Greenbelt Willie Room served as the location of the first phase of the 55th anniversary reunion of the Wellington High School (WHS) Class of 1967, hosted by Ronnie Ressel and La-Juanda Peters Ressel, WHS Class of 1967, of Dickens, at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5.
The Class of 1967 invited classes four years before and four years after for a come-andgo event. Class of 1967 graduates included Melanie Williams Busby, of Leonard, Okla.; Mildred Lewis Cummings, of Hollis, Okla.; Jan Smith Garrison, of Lubbock; Zeldon Jenkins, of Childress; Neal Roberts, of Big Spring; Mike Smith, of Canyon; and Dwight Bowen, Rodney Kane and Linda Winton Martin, all of Wellington.
Guests included WHS graduates Judy Smith Cooney, 1965, of Oklahoma; Mary Lou Holton Kane, 1969, of Wellington; Judy Porter Smith, 1969, of Canyon; Melinda Lee Williams, 1970, of Leonard, Okla.; and Quail High School graduate, Reta Cummings Jenkins, 1969, of Childress.
Betsy Castleberry Lemons provided refreshments and Beth Peters Motsenbocker served the snacks. Both are members of the WHS Class of 1971.
As the stars came out, the group moved to the patio of Dwight Bowen, where his daughters, DeeDee Heisler Needham, 1982, and Rhonda Heisler Cochran, 1986, served a barbecue beef and sausage dinner. Billy Wilkerson, 1963, Jackie Barton Wilkerson, 1966, and Linda Holton Mitchell, 1964, joined in the fellowship.
