During the 2022 Wellington Professional Women’s Club Bubble Run, around 85 cancer survivors and supporters bowed in prayer at 9 a.m. The 2023 event, benefitting Hearts United Give Support (HUGS), is this Saturday, May 6 at Powell Park. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., and the walk/run starts at 9 a.m. Survivors will make the first lap. The local HUGS organization provides travel assistance to Collingsworth County residents with a cancer diagnosis as they seek treatment. Also on the agenda for this Saturday is the Wellington Opportunity Center bake sale fundraiser, located at 817 West Ave., beginning at 9 a.m. The winner of the lawnmower raffle will be drawn at noon. Tickets are $10 each or 12 for $100. Additionally, hosted by Wellington Lions Club, the Pet Vaccination Clinic is from 1-4 p.m. at the Ellison Park Pavilion. All pets must be on a leash or in a pet carrier. Critter Care Vet Clinic’s Dr. Connie Lindley, DVM will provide the services.
