Wellington Volunteer Fire Chief Kevin Hamby directs traffic around a belly dump truck that jackknifed on South Hwy 83 Monday morning, May 1. The driver of a pickup made an impulsive U-turn in front of the truck, which was headed south. The quick reaction by the truck driver avoided an accident with driver of the pickup, but his truck ended up facing north in the east barrow ditch. The truck driver was uninjured. In addition to the Wellington Volunteer Fire Department, Wellington Emergency Medical Services and the Collingsworth County Sheriff’s Office responded.
