CHILDRESS — Childress left its mark at the Region 1-3A Track and Field Championships Friday, April 28-Saturday, April 29 at Abilene Christian University, tying for third place and advancing the 800-meter and mile relay teams as well as two field competitors.

WELLINGTON — Thanks to Blake Strickland, who threw a no-hitter,the Wellington Skyrockets blanked the Memphis Cyclones 2-0 for a second-place finish in the district Monday,May 1. With strong pitching on both sides,Strickland struck out seven, while Cyclone Leo Flores sat down four.

BUSHLAND — Childress Lady Cat, as well as Wellington Skyrocket and Lady Rocket, regional qualifiers got in some run time before the upcoming regional invitational, competing at the Bushland Regional Qualifiers Invitational Friday, April 21 at Falcon Stadium.
Skyrocket senior Caleb Weinette concludes a stellar golf career at the Region 1-AA Golf Tournament Thursday, April 20 at Palo Duro Creek in Canyon. Weinette placed as 10th individual out of 94 competitors, just narrowly missing a ticket to state. He remains in the record books as the first Skyrocket from Wellington High School to advance to state as an individual, occurring his junior year. Courtesy Photo

MEMPHIS — Continuing their stellar dynasty, the Memphis Lady Cyclones added more hardware to the trophy case, winning the Region 1-2A Championship Monday, April 17 and Tuesday, April 18 at Palo Duro Creek Golf Course in Canyon.
