Parker named 2023 Amarillo Globe-News Coach of the Year

AMARILLO — Childress Bobcat Head Basketball Coach Wayne Parker was recently named 2023 Amarillo Globe-News Coach of the Year,announced Sunday,April 9. “It’s definitely exciting, but I know I couldn’t get this award without the team, a good staff and administration,” Parker said.

CHILDRESS — Capping the District Invitational Wednesday, April 5 at Reese Golf Center in Lubbock, the Childress Lady Cats took gold, surpassing second- place Shallowater with scores of 360-370 — 730.

CHILDRESS — Down to the wire, the Childress Bobcats took a one-point victory over the Slaton Tigers Tuesday, April 11, thanks to a dramatic walk-off by Devin Edmondson, who singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Bobcats earn THSCA, all-district basketball honors

CHILDRESS — Adding to his ever-growing basketball resume, Childress senior guard Lamont Nickleberry was recently selected District 2-3A Most Valuable Player (MVP), as well as the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Class 3A Super Elite Team MVP.
