Firecrackers earn tennis tournament accolades

The 2026 Wellington Junior High School (WJHS) Tennis Tournament took place at the local tennis courts on Monday, May 4. “A huge shoutout to all our student athletes for your hard work on the courts,” said WJHS Principal Shannon Fisher. “We are so proud of how you played.

Lady Cats take bi-district championship

FLOYDADA — The Childress Lady Cats continued their playoff run, defeating Muleshoe, 1-0, for the bi-district championship Friday, April 24.Recording 21 outs, Ansley Parr struck out 10 batters on the day, surrendering three hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking one.

Wellington defeats Memphis on back of clutch display

WELLINGTON — Wellington’s Alex Orozco drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Skyrockets past Memphis, 10-0, on Friday, April 24. Orozco doubled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the third inning, scoring one run.
