WELLINGTON–While the staff of Wellington Care Center (WCC) paused to reflect and celebrate the new year, they received the news of attaining the prestigious five-star rating from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

WELLINGTON – Thirty- four teams competed in Wellington Volunteer Fire Department’s (VFD) 24hour Second Annual Varmint Hunt fundraiser from 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11-1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, with an entry fee of $300 for two-tofour- man teams.

2024 cotton crop deemed a disappointment

WELLINGTON – One local farmer compared the 2024 cotton crop to 2011, when the final bale count totaled only 40,410 during the severe drought. While ginning concluded Dec. 30, the total for 2024 is 46,846 bales.

A “complete remission” (CR) is nice, but a cure means that all those tiny cancer cells are eliminated, either by death or sterilization of the individual cells. An oncologist cannot know this, but we have lots of data that can lead to good predictions.

HOLLIS, Okla. – “After being approached and seeing a desire for a new age group, on April 12, 2025, we will be holding the inaugural Ms. Cotton Country Pageant,” said Director Beth Penington. “This will be open to all ladies ages 20-24.

Wellington Elementary School Principal Deidre Kane instructed the students to go play in the snow prior to the noon dismissal Thursday, Jan. 9. A special Sparkler snow day, the heavy, wet snow fell perfectly and quickly accumulated approximately four inches.
