WELLINGTON – Thirty- four teams competed in Wellington Volunteer Fire Department’s (VFD) 24hour Second Annual Varmint Hunt fundraiser from 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11-1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, with an entry fee of $300 for two-tofour- man teams.

2024 cotton crop deemed a disappointment

WELLINGTON – One local farmer compared the 2024 cotton crop to 2011, when the final bale count totaled only 40,410 during the severe drought. While ginning concluded Dec. 30, the total for 2024 is 46,846 bales.
