People frequently take better care of their animals and plants. We all need care! “Colorful Childress” is a challenge nickname for our town, but I’m trying to make my contribution. My yard’s four colors start with the bluebonnets near or in the driveway (March to May).
A birthday is usually a day of leisure, but for Connie Mercado, last Thursday was routine, preparing the weekly luncheon at the Childress Senior Citizens Center. Her menu included oven-baked chicken spaghetti and baked potatoes, as well as other side dishes and an array of desserts. She did forego duties for the weekly diners, taking time out for guests at the center to sing “Happy Birthday” to her.

GRAHAM — Childress County 4-H members recently competed in the 2024-2025 Rolling Plains District 3 Ag Product ID and Livestock Skill-AThon Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Young County Arena in Graham, with Junior Division teams bringing home a first- and second-place finish in Ag Products ID.
