AMARILLO — Childress’ Selah Smith and Wellington’s Taytum Kane are in the running for Amarillo Globe-News’ Preseason Girls Cross County Athlete of the Year.
Joining a lineup of 40 Texas Panhandle runners, Smith, a sophomore, solidified her name in the books her freshman season, not only qualifying for the state championships, but also breaking the Childress High School girls’ cross-country record.
