10/24/1943 - 8/01/2026 This won’t be your typical obituary. Because anyone who knew our Daddy, knows he was not a typical man.
Our family is sad to share the news of Troy, age 82, passing away on August 1, 2026, surrounded by his family and furry children. The way he wanted it.
He was born in Hollis, OK in 1943 to Albert & Velma Adams. Dad was the youngest of 3 boys who drove Granny, his mother, insane. There was never a dull moment. The Adams boys were known to be practical jokesters and smart asses, which they each passed down to their children. We are proud to announce that all of us has passed those traits down to our children.
Troy attended Childress High School before studying nursing and physical education. After graduation he went back to Childress where he was a teacher and coach. There have been many stories told by his students about Coach Adams. Beyond his time in Childress, Troy taught and coached in several different school districts and finally retiring after more than 40 years coaching and educating.
Daddy loved to rebuild guns, go hunting, pick on his wife, children, nephews, grandchildren, and great nieces and nephews. To him, nothing was more important than family. He was an imperfect man that raised and loved his family the best way he knew how, a little rough but full of love with a side of sarcasm.
Troy was preceded in death by Albert Adams (father), Velma Adams (mother), Edwin Adams and James Adams (brothers), JoAnn Adams and Laverne Adams (sisters-in-law), Billy Cunningham (grandson), and numerous pets who will be thrilled to deal with Daddy’s antics in the afterlife.
He is survived by his wife Della Adams, daughters Melisa Cunningham, Melinda Bee, and Holly Königsberg, their husbands Bill Cunningham, Chris Bee, Eric Konigsburg, son Jerod Webb and wife Stephanie, nephews Roger and Eric Adams, their wives Teresa and Lori Adams. Grandchildren Brianna Harkins, Cannen Cunningham, Saxen Bush, Taylor Bee, Lane Adams, Austin Semon, and great nieces and nephews, Nikki, Kassi, Glenn, Amy, Jerry, Ashley, Neienda, and more along with a slew of great grandchildren.
Troy’s celebration of life will be simple and full of laughter and stories, just the way he wanted it. October 24, at 10:00 a.m., we will meet at the cemetery to bury Dad’s ashes with his parents, and sing Amazing Grace, his favorite song. We, his daughters, have elected to turn/shovel the dirt to give Daddy back to earth, ourselves. So, if anyone would like to join in and turn dirt, please feel free. Immediately after, we will depart to the Reunion Room at Fair Park where we will share a meal, memories, stories and laughter. Those attending are welcome to bring their favorite dessert for all to share. This is not a formal event so come how you please, except pajamas, no pajamas.
