MANGUM, Okla. — Despite 100-plus-degree weather, the eight-and-under Texas Tornadoes went 5-1 at the recent Firework Frenzy Tournament, held Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 in Mangum, Okla., winning the tournament, thanks to victories over the Altus Cleanups, Clinton Vipers and Mangum Outlaws.

WTX Thunder athlete Paisley Jackson, of Childress, recently qualified for the 2024 Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) State Track Meet, held Thursday, July 25-Sunday, July 28 at the TAAF Summer Games of Texas in Brownsville, in the 10-and-under 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

CTX Run Club hosts the first-ever Red, White and Run 5K, a walk-or-run event open to all ages, Thursday, July 4 at Fair Park in Childress. CTX Run Club, organized by Aaron and Ashley Ramos, hosts a one-mile run at 10 a.m. every Saturday morning beginning at Bobcat Nutrition.
