WELLINGTON – Wellington’s Callen Kane threw for two touchdowns, including a twopoint conversion pass on the game’s final scoring play, as the Skyrockets held off the Vernon Lions 14-7 Friday, Sept. 4 at Powell Field.

BORGER — Childress and Wellington athletes recently competed at the 2026 Jeep Webb Classic Saturday, Sept. 5 in Borger.For Childress, Libby Sanford put up a time of 16:09.88, placing 64th in the varsity girls’ two-mile run, followed by Claire Davis, who put up a 74th-place finish of 16:33.

CHILDRESS — The Childress Bobcats dropped their season opener Friday, Aug. 28, succumbing to the Shallowater Mustangs in a 35-21 final.Shallowater kicked things off on a 14-point first quarter, putting up a gap that the Bobcats were unable to close.

WELLINGTON — Opening the season on a high, the Wellington Skyrockets fended off the Spearman Lynx in an 18-12 home opener Friday, Aug. 28 at Powell Field.

Cyclones fall to Benjamin; Memphis runners compete in Plainview

BENJAMIN – Memphis High School’s varsity football teamed kicked off the regular season play of their new six-man format last Thursday night, Aug. 27, at Benjamin.It was not the good welcome the Cyclones’ had hoped for, and they went down in this game after two quarters of play, 52-0.
