On Jan. 29, 1891, an alarm went up that hostile warriors were going to attack near Salisbury. This was brought on by someone claim ing to hear war whoops and bloodthirst y yells while ob serving smoke in the distance.

My claim to fame is that I ran into Kenny King while playing football for the Mem phis Cyclones in 1974. When we met, he was playing fullback for the Clarendon Broncos, and I was proud to be on the team and start at tight end for the Cyclones.
