Landlines and deadlines

You won’t have to come in to work every day. That’s what my editor said when I took the job. Somehow, he forgot that promise. There I was, regional reporter, almost under his newsroom nose Monday through Friday — except for my ventures into the region to cover stories not coverable by phone.

How would you handle forced early retirement?

When you plan to retire at a certain age,you can follow a strategy that incorporates your investment moves, your health insurance and other factors. But what happens if you’re forced to retire earlier than you anticipated? Unfortunately, this situation is not that uncommon.

It’s nice when it happens The year 2023 started rough for me, but it seems to be ending on a happy note. Like the average Texas voter, I was for some propositions, okay with others and not okay with old, old judges. It’s nice to line up like that!
