SHERRY ANN TRULOVE CROMARTIE
Sherry Ann Trulove Cromartie, 89, of Childress, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2025.
She was born on March 1, 1936, in Memphis, Texas, to Ted and Vernell Trulove.
In the mid 80s, Sherry retired from her job as the administrative assistant to the CEO of Texas Land and Title Company in Austin, and shortly thereafter, moved back home to Memphis. In Memphis, she worked several different jobs, including working for the Childress and Memphis Chambers of Commerce. However, her favorite job was as a writer for the Wellington Leader newspaper, where her writing focused on the history of the area.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Vernell Trulove; her sister, Teddie Allen and husband Mackey Allen; her sister, Betty Gayle Trulove; and her brother, Jim Bruce Trulove.
Sherry is survived by her daughter, Jeri Cromartie Gabriel and husband James Gabriel; grandsons Justin Gabriel and Johnathan Gabriel and Samantha Gonzales; great-granddaughter Nora Gabriel; nieces Sandra and Ladell Harrison and family and Brenda and Billy Blacksher and family; and her sister-in-law, Judy Trulove.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis.
