Herbert “Herbie” Clay, 78, of Erick, Oklahoma, passed away on August 5, 2026.
He was born on March 18, 1948, in Wellington to Horace Wilson Clay and Maude Sixton Clay.
Herbie worked as a truck driver, a career he loved because it allowed him to travel and explore different parts of the country. After retiring, he enjoyed collecting items and working with his hands on a variety of projects.
He is survived by Inois Colson (Ronnie) of Tennessee; Rita Maxwell (Ernest) of Oklahoma; Shawndra Rutledge (Gary) of Michigan; and Shane Clay (Amy) of Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Shad Clay; his parents, Horace Clay and Maude Clay; and his sisters, Roberta Clay, Cleta Long, and Jamesie Colson.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2026, at the Wellington City Hall Club Room.
