RANDY MOTSENBOCKER

Randy Motsenbocker passed away peacefully in his sleep at the farm south of Wellington, Texas, on Feb. 4, 2023.

Randy Charles was the fourth child of Sammie Albert and Lucille Covey Motsenbocker, born on Jan. 8, 1952, in Wellington. He grew up on the farm of his grandparents, Ruben and Della Covey, on the Childress County, Texas line.

Randy was a Dodson Mustang for his first 10 years until the school closed. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1971.

Randy married his high school sweetheart, Nora Beth Peters, on June 3, 1972. They welcomed three beautiful daughters, LaRanda Beth in 1973, Sarah Amanda in 1986 and Molly Miranda in 1988, but he never got to take home his son, R.C., in 1985.

Randy worked as a warehouseman, a truck and transit driver and in law enforcement, but his passion was working the land. He preferred to leave the business end of farming to his employers while he planted, cultivated and reaped the crops.

Randy was a member of the Sherriff ’s Axillary under Kenneth Maxwell. When LaRanda was in high school, he was active with her in the Rodeo Association. He and Beth helped chaperone Sarah and Molly on the Childress Church of Christ mission trip to Saint Louis, Mo. in 2004.

Randy was proceeded in death by his parents, Sammie and Lucille Motsenbocker, and his son, Randy Charles Motsenbocker Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; daughters LaRanda Motsenbocker, of Childress, Texas, Sarah Motsenbocker, of Grapevine, Texas, and Molly Motsenbocker, of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Albert Motsenbocker and Joan, of Quanah, Texas, and Bobby Motsenbocker and Vicki, of Glendale, Ariz.; and a sister, Shirley Fike and Raymond, of Wellington.

Memorial services took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Childress Church of Christ with Trey Morgan, minister, and Dr. Mike Henderson officiating. Services were under the direction of his family. Cremation arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

The family suggests that memorials be made to H.U.G.S., P.O. Box 24, Wellington, TX 79095.
