GWENDOLYN GOYNE

Gwendolyn Goyne, 84, of Amarillo, Texas, died on March 13, 2023. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, at Cornerstone Ministries, 1111 N. Buchanan St. Viewing took place from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel.

Gwen was one of five sisters. She was born in Phoenix, Ariz. to Boyd and Virginia Potts. Gwen attended Childress High School. She later attended college at Clarendon College, Wayland Baptist University and Amarillo College. Gwen completed nursing school in 1974. After moving to Amarillo, she worked for IBP and home health, until she retired in 2002. While she was in Plainview, Texas, she worked as a Director of Nursing and an Assistant Director of Nursing at a nursing home. In Childress, she assisted her late husband in the Butler Clinic. Gwen enjoyed golf, traveling in the RV, playing volleyball and teaching Sunday school at her church. She was very artistic and excelled at oil painting. At the opening of the Pavilion and Bank of Southwest, her paintings were on display.

Gwen was preceded in death by her two husbands, Dr. Robert Butler, of Childress, Texas, and Jerry Goyne, of Amarillo; two sisters Sue Liles and Marlene Havins; and her parents.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Diane Hall and husband David, of Boynton, Okla., son Mike Hackler and wife Mary, of Wellington, Fla., and daughter Jimi Hudson and husband David, of Amarillo; two sisters, Maxine Skinner, of Childress, and Rue Young, of Paducah, Texas; grandchildren, Teresa Jones, of Levelland, Texas, Bobbie Jones, of Boynton, Kylie Patterson, of Amarillo, and Konner Patterson and wife Lacy, of Amarillo; great-grandchildren Kindrum Obenhaus, Ryan Littlefield, Aspen Ray and June Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, Gwen requested donations to the Tunnel ofTowers.
