Melinda attended J.J. Rhodes School until schools were integrated, and she finished her education at Childress High School. She was known for being a hard worker. She worked for several years at Walmart and for private care. Then, she went to work for Cottage Village and Childress Regional Medical Center before she babysat her little “Bubba”until she was called to her home.
She loved to read and was an avid sports fan. She especially loved watching University of Texas (UT) girls’ volleyball. She looked forward to March Madness every year. She participated in softball, both women and co-ed leagues, for several years. She even dabbled in coaching little dribblers girls’ basketball and little league softball. She was really competitive and showed that spirit of competition by playing spades and whisk. She demonstrated stewardship as a member for many years at the New Hope Baptist Church, working over the kitchen, where she was also head of the hospitality committee.
Now, she is at rest in her new home over in glory!
