Freddy Earl Peters made it to his eternal home on Christmas day 2024 from McAllen, Texas. Fred was born to David Daniel and Trudie Viola Ogletree Peters in Wellington, Texas on July 21, 1946.
Raised in Wellington, Fred attended Lubbock Christian College. He moved to Oklahoma and worked for American Airlines for 30 years while raising two daughters. In his 20s, he took on the role of Santa Claus for the community and carried the spirit of Christmas through his passing.
Fred served as a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, and he actively participated in Oklahoma 4-H. He obtained a Divinity degree from the Owasso Church of Christ.
In retirement, Fred traveled extensively, studied auctioneering and hypnotism and explored genealogy. He began a professional storytelling career with several guilds, including the Oklahoma Territorial Tellers, the Tejas Storytelling Association and Tipi Tellers.
Beyond generous, Fred wanted his entire body donated to help others. He could no longer be an organ donor, so his body was donated to medical science instead. Much will be learned with his donation.
A memorial will be planned in Wellington at a later date. The family requests tributes and stories to be posted on Fred’s Facebook page.
We would ask that you celebrate his life in your own way and with the respective groups that he was a part of. He would have wanted many hugs, smiles and lots of love to be shared in his name! Please spend some time today recounting his antics, fun adventures and all of the wonderful stories he shared.
Fred was preceded in death by his daughter, Janeen McGuire; his parents, David and Trudie Peters; and his brothersin- law, Ronnie Ressel and Randy Motsenbocker.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Andi Hudson and her husband, Barry; his grandchildren, Morgan and Kaiten Hudson, of Durant, Okla. and Peyton Hudson, of Tulsa, Okla.; his sisters, La-Juanda Ressel and Beth Motsenbocker, both of Wellington, and Debbie Kendall and husband David, of Naples, Fla.; and a blessing of family and friends.
