Allen “Sonny” Murdock of Memphis,Texas, passed away Feb. 11, 2025.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, in Robertson Funeral Directors Heritage Chapel in Memphis with Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Viewing took place Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
He was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Garvin County, Okla. to Elmer and Genevieve Murdock. He moved to Texas when he was seven and attended Lakeview School until the eighth grade, when he quit school to help the family make a living on the farm.
Sonny enlisted in the Army and served his country from 1961 until 1965. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Billie Jean Jackson, and had 59 years of marriage. In 1969, together, they had one son, Allen Lee.
He worked several jobs after the service including working for GTE, service, stations, farmhand, sheet factory, John Deere and Birdsong Peanuts, where he retired from.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Jean, of the home in Memphis; son, Allen Lee, of Memphis; and one brother, Jessie Wayne and Deby, of Clarendon, Texas.
