Becky Sims, age 82, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Childress,Texas Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, in the Childress First Baptist Church with Pastor Norman Rushing officiating and assisted by Pastor Tim Medley.
Family visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home.
Becky was born on March 13, 1942, in Memphis, Texas to Clarence and Mary Estelle (Waddill) Moore. She married Ronald Sims, and from this union, had three daughters, Shanon, Sarah and Sharon.
Becky taught Sunday school her entire life. She was a member of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of the local Xi Pi Sigma of Beta Sigma Fi. Becky also volunteered for the Red Cross in Germany. She was a sports fanatic, especially the Chiefs and the Childress Bobcats. She was an excellent cook and baker. She would bake birthday cakes for every member of her family. She had a way of making everyone think they were her favorite. Becky was a remarkable woman that touched so many people’s lives. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Shanon Sims, of Austin,Texas, Sarah Sims, of Childress, and Sharon Blackburn and husband Christopher,of New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren Jade Pleming, Ashley Walker, Dakota Walker and wife Jesslyn, Jake Walker, Jackson Blackburn and Sutton Blackburn; great-grandchildren London Dixon, Paris Dixon, Kash Dixon, Novalee Walker and Weston Walker; brother Larry Moore and wife Janiece; sister Carol Greene and husband Tom; sisters-in-law Wanda Moore, Judy Sims, Marie Simmons, Sue Mock and husband Chuck, Martha Little, Sherry Gomez and spouse Jenn Gomez; brother-in-law John Sims; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Estelle Moore; her husband, Ronald B. Sims; sister Yvonne Perez; brother Jim Moore; and grandson Cole Cofer.
Memorial donations can be made to the Childress Food Bank or Childress Regional Medical Center Hospice.
