Alice Prentice
Funeral services for Alice Prentice, 84, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, with Dr. David Schaefer officiating. Burial followed in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation was held at 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home.
She passed away Sept. 4, 2023, in Childress, Texas.
Alice was born March 25, 1939, in Waco, Texas, to Frank Shuemake and Zelma Copaus Shuemake.
She loved cooking with her grandchildren and enjoyed yard work. She loved raising birds. She became a grandmother at the age of 40 and loved to spoil the grandkids. She also enjoyed painting, sewing and ironing for the public. She helped husband Bill with his TV business, which they started in 1966, after moving to Childress in 1969. She was an active member of Parkview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; sisters Paulette Butcher, Tinie Fillinger, Barbara Douglas; a brother, Frank Shuemake; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include a son, Billy Prentice, and wife Cassandra, of Villa Ridge, Mo.; a daughter, Brenda Overstreet, and husband Kevin; a daughter, Debra Williams, and husband Cody; a son, Bobby Prentice, and wife Irma; a son, Jackie Prentice, and wife Karen; sisters Janie Haulotte and husband Keith ALICE PRENTICE
and Kathy Sission; a sisterin- law, Patsy Jouett; special friend Steven Gibson; along with 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to Parkview Baptist Church or Childress Regional Medical Center Hospice.
