Andy Dale Hartsell, 61, of Garland, Texas, died Friday, July 26, 2024, in Garland.
Services took place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the Memphis Church of Christ with Mark Lance officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, Texas.Viewing was held from 9 a.m.-noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Andy was born Nov. 5, 1962, in Memphis to Jimmy Dale and Dorothy Wheeler Hartsell. He had been a resident of Garland for the past 30 years. He had worked as a General Manager for movie theaters prior to his illness. He loved movies, so working in movie theaters was a big plus for Andy.
He also enjoyed traveling and going out to eat, especially taking his mom out to eat. He was very good to his mom and dad. He enjoyed irritating people with funny nicknames and had a fun sense of humor. He was described as a night owl who was very frugal and full of life. He had a dog named Panda that he enjoyed going on four-mile walks with, up until about three weeks before his death.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, Shane Hartsell.
Survivors include his father, Jimmy Hartsell, of Gun Barrel City,Texas; his mother, Dorothy Hartsell, of Garland; his sister, Kathy Jacobs and husband Rob, of Calabasas, Calif.; a niece, Abigail Jacobs; and several cousins.
The family request memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
