Betty Ann Goodall Dowd peacefully transitioned from her earthly body to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
A graveside service celebrating her 91 beautiful years was held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery.
Born at home on Sept. 10, 1933, in Memphis, Texas, Betty Ann was the beloved daughter of Dr. and Mrs. O.R. Goodall. She spent her early years in Memphis, graduating from Memphis High School in 1952. She went on to attend Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she studied elementary education.
Betty Ann raised both of her children in Memphis and took great pride in being part of the community. She often spoke fondly of her hometown, cherishing the lifelong friendships and support she found there.

With a servant’s heart, Betty Ann lived a life rooted in compassion. She cared deeply for the elderly, often checking in on neighbors and bringing them groceries. She was fiercely committed to serving others and was known for her unwavering desire to bring meaning and purpose to the lives of those she loved. Over the years, she championed many causes and volunteered with the First Methodist Church of Fairfield,Texas, offering food and water to the unhoused in Dallas, Texas. Even in her later years, while living with dementia, her giving spirit continued to shine.
Betty Ann is survived by her children, Elaine Shahan McCorkell and Randle Shahan (Susan), and her four grandchildren, Russell Shahan (Haleigh), Hannan Rabalais (Micah), Jeremy Shahan and Luke McCorkell. She also leaves behind her three cherished nieces, one dear nephew and many sweet cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. O.R. and Bettye Goodall; siblings Jane, Sim and Robert Goodall; and her grandson, John Michael McCorkell.
Betty Ann’s enduring faith in Christ and her spirit of service will remain a lasting presence in the hearts of all who knew her.
