Charles William Casey
Charles William Casey, 83, of Childress, Texas, passed away June 7, 2025.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home. A service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Childress Cemetery with Rev. Randy Wilson officiating.
He was born Dec. 18, 1941, to Charles Homer Casey and Bertha Estelle Casey.
He met the love of his life, Annette Cross, who would later become Mrs. Charles Casey, at her father’s snow cone/icehouse in Chillicothe, Texas, while he was there for wheat harvest. They were married months later on Aug. 24, 1961, in Vernon, Texas.
He spent the majority of his earlier life as a farmhand over most of the Texas Panhandle and North Texas, before transitioning over to a truck driver for a grain company in Vernon. In 1990, he moved to CHARLES WILLIAM CASEY Childress, where he took a job with OK Concrete until retirement.
After retirement, he spent most of his time working on and rebuilding lawn mowers, working word-find books and watching the western channel on TV. He loved seeing his children, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, along with his wife of 63 years of marriage.
He is survived by wife Annette Casey, of Childress; son Troy Casey and wife Tracie, of Childress; daughter Kimberly Bivens, of Childress; son Dareck Casey and wife Kristen, of Childress; and son Michael Casey and fiancé Jennifer Kindle, of Childress; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertha Estelle Casey; brother Homer Casey; sister Alma Price; half-brother Dwight Stringfellow; and daughter-in-law Carla Casey.
At this time, the family wishes to express gratitude for the care given to him by Wellington Care Center, Gentiva Hospice and Childress Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Hospice.
