Christine Smoot, age 75, passed away on Jan. 6, 2024, in Childress,Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating.
Christine Smoot was born in Plainview, Texas on Aug. 18, 1948, to Floyd and Alma (West) Shugart. She absolutely loved her children and doted on all of her grandkids and great-grands. She was quick witted and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to dance in the kitchen to Bruce Springsteen while cooking. Christine loved to bake and shared her love of baking with her grandkids. She loved track and could yell and out-coach any bystander.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry Smoot; brother-in-law Johnny Brooks; and granddaughter Elizabeth Kelley.
Christine is survived by son Jason Smoot and wife Jennifer, of Childress; daughter Tamara Cottom and husband Bryan,of Sayre, Okla.; grandchildren Timothy, Andrew and Joshua Kelley, Claire Zinser, Gabe and Destiny Marquez, Abel and Marlene Marquez and Brad and Amber Cottom; sister Bonnie and Larry Carlson; sister JoAnn Brooks; brother Larry and Liz Shugart; and great-grandchildren Brayden and Beckham Cottom and Erilynn and Kadee Marquez.
