Dell Graham, 83, of Memphis, Texas, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, in Childress, Texas.
Services took place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, in the First Baptist Church of Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Viewing was held Friday, Dec. 30 at the funeral home with family receiving friends for visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Dell was born Dec. 9, 1939, in Littlefield, Texas to Dub and Texas Faye Jones Graham. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1958. Dell married Murream Ward on Dec. 14, 1962, in Plainview, Texas. He later graduated from West Texas State College in 1963, and he was a member of the last class to graduate under the college name.
Dell worked for Texas Department of Human Services for 23 years and farmed for 22 years prior to his retirement. He served on the Memphis City Council for 12 years and as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Dec. 10, 2012; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Murream Williams, on May 20, 2021.
Survivors include a son, David Graham and wife Irma, of Memphis; two daughters, Rhonda London and husband David, of Bushland, Texas, and Leah Franklin and husband Johnny, of Memphis; his sisters, Helen Hewitt, of San Antonio, Texas, and Sharlene Polvado, of McAllen, Texas; a brother, Roy Graham, of Crane Hill, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Holly Strickland and husband Sean, Lorra London, Kendell Williams and husband Jakob, Kade Byars, Kye Byars, Macaela Graham and Analise Graham; and three great-grandchildren, Jacoby Preston, Graham Strickland and Addison Preston.
