Earl Kent Clark, of Wellington, Texas, passed away Dec. 13, 2022, in Hollis, Okla.

Memorial graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, in Fairview Cemetery with Kenny Lee Tunstall, pastor of House of Grace in Mangum, Okla., and Sandy Covey officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

Kent was born Oct. 24, 1949, in Wellington to Earl Gene “Skeet” Clark and Barbara Bartlett Clark.

He graduated from Wellington High School in 1968. After high school, Kent attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he played basketball. He also attended Clarendon College, or “Harvard on the Hill,” as he liked to call it.

He married Judy Moore in 1972 and had three sons, Joe, Jason and Toby.

Kent was a lifelong rancher with his brother, Jim, their dad, “Skeet,” and Grandad, A.B., on the Clark Ranch, which they established in 1948, in Harmon County, Okla. Kent relied on his “Okie” buddies from the Vinson Community to help on the ranch whenever they were needed.

In addition to being a rancher, Kent also worked at the Wellington Livestock Commission for Billy Henard and the Hollis Livestock Auction for Harold Dennis and Jeff Sanders, where he was well known and made many good friends during his time there.

He loved the cowboy way of life, rodeos and fast horses. One of the highlights of his life was when he, Judy and Jason attended the Kentucky Derby.

Kent attended the Wellington Church of Christ and the Vinson Church of Christ.

death by his parents and his son, Toby.

Kent is survived by his wife Judy, of the home; two sons, Joe Kent and wife Bonnie, of Vinson, Okla., and Jason, of Wellington; a brother, Jim Clark, of Hollis, Okla.; his grandchildren, Jacey, Josey, Emery, Skeet and Charlie Jen; and a host of cousins and cherished friends.
