Gary Wright, 67, of Wellington, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022.

Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Bevly, pastor of the Samnorwood Baptist Church, and Rev. Ronnie Lambert, pastor, officiating. Burial followed at North Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

He was born on June 4, 1955, in Wellington, to Lynn and Loretta Barnett Wright. Gary graduated from Wellington High School in 1973 and attended West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.

Gary married Toni Taylor on Oct. 12, 1974, in Wellington. He served as a farmer and rancher with his father and sons in northern Collingsworth County.He started going with his father on custom harvests as a youngster. They retired in 1986 after going for over 20 years.

He was member of the First Baptist Church in Wellington, and before moving to town, he was a member of the Samnorwood Baptist Church. He had served on various committees at both and was currently serving as a member of Collingsworth County Farm Service Agency Board. He was a former member of the Samnorwood School Board, Lions Club and Sports Booster Club and served on the Samnorwood Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years.

Gary and Toni moved into Wellington from Dozier,Texas after the death of his parents, and he semi-retired. He enjoyed the annual crawfish boils, boating, fishing and going to the mountains to trail ride with his grandkids.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Wright.

Gary is survived by his wife Toni, of Wellington; his son, Larry Wright and his wife, April, of Dozier; his daughter, Alicia Parks and her husband, Rick, of Dozier; seven grandchildren, Clayton McKinley and Kaylee, Weston Wright, Cortlyn McKinley, Trenton Wright, Andrew Parks, Jamie Dutton and Wade and Conner Anderson; and a great-grandson, Silas Dutton.
